I saw one port from Blender which looked better in Source. Non nude. Was from some game. But I assign that to shitty work by the original porter and competent work by the GMod porter.

Alan is good at this. Taking models from another port and improve them.

Not to mention his OC’s.

Asked him if he had a Patron. Wanted to support him. But he said he does this for free. Not interested in money. But not all modelers can afford such a noble cause. They have the skills, but need support. And DE needs them.

@ Undyingbroccoli, Getting something back inspires you to continue. I fully support that. And you are not asking much. And we get awesome models. The GMod community needs to understand it is no longer 2012 and sitting on your ass expecting free stuff no longer applies. You want good content? Make it worth the creators time.

Well, I am not trying to piss on people who wants another model from the same universe, but can’t you just enjoy the model that just got released?

I applaud any modeler sharing their hard work for free, but support good work. It is worth it to keep the community alive.

@ Rastifan, Yea, that one bugs me as well.. But all in all. I don’t do the Patreon thing for profit. I just like to port stuff. If my Patreon just had two subscribers, I would still port stuff and release them there.

@ Undyingbroccoli, Remember the Source community are... or was made up by kids and teens in their bedrooms not used to working for anything in their lives. They got tons of free stuff for GMod and SFM. It became a habit. So they didn’t understand why modelers started asking for a little back for all the work.

@ Undyingbroccoli, You make around $382 a month. Not much given the work, but I hope it keeps you going. Are around 3800 in Norwegian money. A decent addition. But in the end it is the passion that counts. The creative joy.

I think it’s pretty good for the amount of work of one model. Yea, same in swedish crowns, maybe a little less

But pretty sure it’s more expensive to live in norway. You guys are famous for those insane prices when we convert swedish to norwegian curency

My years of struggle keeping DE online with lousy hosts, board issues, SSL running out (was clueless back then) the theft of it, and how we had to take it back (thanks to Evil Ash) for then losing it again made me almost give up until Nightboy smacked some sense into me and reminded me why I did this. "Let’s get DE back up" he said. "I don’t want this to end". Passion and don’t give up on the commuity you created.

All those model releases would have been for naught if I had given into the part of me saying "Fuck this. It’s not worth it". But I decided not on my watch. DE has had a turbulent history to say the least
